Everyday decisions, lifelong impact.
Created to care for the 26.4% of children in Bradley County who are living in poverty and at risk of hunger on the weekends, in 2017, weekend meals were delivered to 575 children in 15 Bradley County and Cleveland City schools each week. This requires approximately 2,875 pounds of food a week.
Each weekend meal contains approximately 4-5 pounds of kid-friendly, shelf-stable, nutritious meals to supplement each child’s weekend nutrition. These meals are delivered to the participating schools on Thursdays and are distributed by teachers and administration in a discreet manner to go home with each child on the weekends.
The cost to feed one child is:
- $5 per weekend
- $20 per month
- $200 per year
Maybe you can't do $200, but you can manage $5 - this may not seem like a lot to you, but it is a lot to that child who now has food to eat over the weekend. So, thank you. Everyday decisions, lifelong impact.
