COPE TRAINING SIMULATION

COPE - Cost of Poverty Experience - Training Simulation

The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) is an eye-opening immersive exercise led by United Way certified professionals that simulates a month in the life of a real family navigating poverty by replicating both challenges and resources in the community available for families in need.

Structured into four 30-minute “weeks,” participants must make difficult decisions as they work to meet basic needs, care for family members, secure employment, and navigate social service systems. COPE offers a deeper understanding of the complex, often overwhelming, barriers that families face ... and fosters empathy, awareness, and meaningful conversation about poverty in our community.

COPE is an ideal educational, in-service or staff training opportunity for your business, school or church. If you would like more information or to schedule a Cost of Poverty Experience, contact Shawna Staup at shawnastaup@unitedwayocoee.org or 423-479-2020.
